Project EXPAND brings together educators, school professionals, district officials, Registered Apprenticeship Program providers, and Project EXPAND leaders to collaborate to expand knowledge, empower educators, and energize district youth communities about apprenticeship as a postsecondary path.

Leveraging an innovative, respectful, and educator-centered approach, Project EXPAND is a professional learning community of diverse education professionals dedicated to contribute to and achieve the following project objectives:

Empower education professionals with knowledge and resources to nurture opportunities for DC youth to learn about apprenticeship

""

Facilitate a network of relationships among District educators, the Project EXPAND team, and Registered Apprenticeship Programs dedicated to promoting apprenticeships to District youth

""

Develop real-world perspectives and knowledge about workforce skills and the related structured training and expectations of apprenticeship industry and/or service-based organizations

""

Collaborate to support practical application and implementation of apprenticeship knowledge in curriculum, teaching, and post-secondary planning with students

""

Provide inclusion expertise, consultation, and support to Registered Apprenticeship Programs to increase access to apprenticeship for District youth with disabilities

""

Support Project Expand participants to become Apprenticeship Ambassadors who promote the possibilities of apprenticeship for District youth

 

By providing professionals with the tools, resources, and knowledge needed to champion apprenticeship opportunities, the project is creating a network of advocates within the education sector. DC Apprenticeship Ambassadors play a crucial role in bridging the gap between traditional academic pathways and apprenticeship possibilities, offering valuable guidance to students and fellow educators alike.
